These group tours require a high level of fitness, advance skiing ability & previous backcountry experience. If you haven't backcountry skied before it doesn't mean you can't come, you'll just have to join one of our BC Intro Tours firstly. Our guide to client ratio is 1:4, if you are unsure of your suitability you can always book a private tour for yourself or your group.
Depending upon your availability you can book 2, 3 & 4 day tours. Our 2 day "overnight & very light" tours are well suited to those with a tight schedule. Your guide will do all the cooking.
Main Range Multi
SMBC have been touring the Main Range for over 30years & have a comprehensive understanding of the terrain & its challenges. Expect longer runs with climbs up to 500 vertical meters. Some of the descent possibilities include & are not limited to Carruthers Nth & Sth Faces, Watsons Ck Gorge, The Pinnacles, The Blue Lk, Little Austria & Sentinel Pk. Our campsites are idealy located high on the Range with incredible vistas of glacial lakes, alpine peaks & far away views.
Make no mistake the Main Range is a formidable place, you will be impressed! Due to not being glaciated & having a more stable maritime snowpack you will ski terrain as good & in some cases better than many overseas locations!

Jagungal Journey
This is a fast & light ski traverse to a remote part of the Kosciuszko National Park! At 2061m it is the highest peak at the Nth end of the park & stands alone amongst sublime undulating 1800-1900m snowgum scattered country. Your guide has made this crossing in winter untold times & his description is "there's just something about that place" & there surely is. It has a captivating alure & a presence that can't be described, only felt!
This journey is over 4 days including 3 x 20km days with a 4th day as a contingency day. The efficient & simplistically styled systems used on this tour will help to maintain a tight schedule.Due to the rolling nature of the terrain a scale patterned light weight alpine touring ski will be used with a climbing skin back up for icy conditions & steeper climbs.
You'll tour through places like The Granite Peaks, The Rolling Ground, The Kerries & past West's Pk, Dicky Cooper Bogong, Gungartan, The Cup & Saucer, Strawberry Hill, The Mail Box & the Mighty Mount Jagungal. From Jagungal the view to the south is dominated by the granduer of the Main Range.
