Early Season Update

After a great long weekend dump last weekend we can report that there was good skiing up high this weekend! The approaches are snow covered from the carpark but the cover is breaking through in mid elevations. Use the sub alpine only as access to the alpine where the snow is light, dry & up to boot deep in some places. Take extra care on descent through the sub alpine. If you're finding it tough on descent we recommend a few Zoro Turns i.e. descending traverse, kick turn, descending traverse, kick turn, repeat!

Main Range Saturday 14th June

Snowshoeing is a very low skills base activity, it's just like bushwalking on the snow & if you can walk then you can snowshoe. No need to spend days learning a new set of skills when you can simply head out into the backcountry & soak in the winter ambience. Not battling with a new skills set means you can enjoy the winter wonderland for what it is & make the most of your precious time in the mountains.

Jagungal Journey

The Jagungal Journey is a fast & light multi day ski tour into the remote areas of the Kosciuszko National Park, tour with SMBC for a unique experience from Guthega to Mt Jagungal. This beautiful peak is Kosciouszko National Park's northern most peak over 2000m & our most remote alpine peak. As much about the journey this very special ski traverse is about simplistic systems & efficiencies. 3Peaks High Route

Ski Australia’s High Route with us along the Main Range passing through the nation’s highest mountains & climbing the three highest peaks; Mt Twynam, Mt Townsend, Mt Kosciuszko. Starting in Guthega & finishing in Thredbo this is SMBC’s signature tour.

Totalling approximately 28km this arduous ski tour is for experienced backcountry skiers with a high level of fitness, focusing on gaining distance with long climbs, descents & traverses.
